After all the abuse and trauma that humans have caused elephants, it would be hard to believe that elephants are still able to form a friendly connection with humans. Yet, they are still able to view humans as more than just another animal in their environment. According to a passage in Siebert’s article, A few number of rehabilitated elephants returned to introduce their offsprings to their “allomothers” at the Sheldrick Trust. If the elephants continue to introduce their offspring, then, eventually, the life of people and elephants could become intertwined. This could be the start of a “mutually benefiting interspecies culture.” A friendly elephant-human relationship really could exist and grow. How this new bond develops is up to us humans.
