Currently humans are becoming connected with elephants in a trans-species way. Elephants that had been traumatized during their childhood as a result of seeing their personal mother or elder die; these elephants are currently being rehabilitated by companies such as the Sheldrick Trust. The Sheldrick Trust is successful because they replace the traumatized elephants previous mother with an allograndmother, which provides the love and care to the elephants that didn't receive that affection needed because of the loss of their elder. When the humans help cure the traumatized elephants, both the elephants and human will benefit from this because it provides a source of healing.
